The second challenge of Arena do Vidro had two parts. First, 10 minutes to make a mirror, any shape and finish, cut by hand. Then the part nobody expected: go out on the street, in a place where nobody knew them, and sell that mirror within 15 minutes. Selling earned 5 points, plus the judges' score.
Janael sold in 35 seconds. Rômulo, in 3 minutes and 7 seconds. Both delivered. But the way each one sold says a lot about selling in a glass shop, and that's what I want to talk about.
Janael went with a leather frame over EVA foam: two processes, more risk, better finish. Rômulo chose a flexible frame precisely to skip edging, a time decision. Watching from outside, the judges said they'd go with a simple abstract shape and the flexible frame, because two steps in 10 minutes is a lot. In the end the panel preferred Janael's mirror: "the leather over EVA has more visual impact".
The lesson here is about production: when time is short, every extra process is a risk. But the one who took the risk and delivered got the score.

Before getting out of the car, the judges laid out the logic: you have a product worth three times more. You state what it costs and sell it for a third. The customer feels they got a deal. And there's the detail every glazier knows: don't scare the customer. If you rush in, flustered, the person spends time just figuring out what you want, and that's time you don't have.
| Janael | Rômulo | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to sell | 35 seconds | 3 min 07 s |
| Price | R$ 2 | R$ 20 |
| Pitch | "I'm on a reality show, please help me, I'll sell it for anything" | "Leather edge, real mirror, top grade. Your wife is going to love it" |
| First attempt | The first woman turned it down even at R$ 2 | Approached four people before closing |
| Episode score | 9 | 7 |
Janael went emotional and asked for help. It worked fast, but he sold for R$ 2 a mirror he himself had priced at R$ 150 in the previous approach. Rômulo sold the product: showed the leather edge, talked quality and gave a reason to buy ("for your wife"). It took longer and brought ten times the money. The panel gave an extra point to the one who added value.
Janael lost the first challenge and won the second; Rômulo, the reverse. With the 5 points for selling plus the judges' scores, the running total is Janael 21, Rômulo 19.5. As Vinícius put it: "it's even, the fight is on". And since the mirrors were sold, nobody had a mirror smashed this time.
